Front Porch Housing: Ashley’s Story

Healing

Ashley came to Front Porch Housing after carrying years of addiction, trauma from sexual abuse, and a new baby.

“I had nowhere to go and I had a 6-week-old baby girl,” Ashley says. Facing legal charges at the time, finding a job was extremely difficult. And, to make matters worse, the pandemic had just begun. The supportive community from Grace Church and the Front Porch Housing program helped her find hope, stability, and healing. In May 2022 Grace Church announced an investment of $16 million to expand their housing ministry.

Front Porch Housing is Grace Church’s Housing Ministry and is a two-year program designed to help individuals and families in crisis build a firm foundation with the goals of continued sobriety, gainful employment, financial independence, and spiritual maturity. Front Porch Housing partners with community resources such as Miracle Hill Ministries, Renewal, Jasmine Road, The Phoenix Center, Serenity Place, and more. This program is an innovative way for a church to fill a critical community gap by offering housing and supportive services to residents that would struggle to find housing because of financial, legal, or other barriers.

Since graduating from the program, Ashley is working her dream job, is financially stable, and building a life for her sweet little girl.  In September 2022, she married Eric. Together, they are on their own as a new family.

Ashley would recommend this program to anyone who may be experiencing hardship because of the love she received from Front Porch Housing. She says, “You cannot go through a program like that and not experience some sort of life change!”
